From Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Hoagy Carmichael, a blend of different types of music will be presented here Sunday, November 19, when flutist Daniel Pardo headlines the third of eight 2023-2024 concerts hosted by the Fredericksburg Music Club.
Sharing the stage with Pardo will be Latinus Cuarteto, a chamber group dedicated to the development and diffusion of Latin American chamber music and comprised of Eddy Marcano
(violin), Johnny Chang (violin), Gregory Mata (viola) and Enrene Diaz (violincello).
Also performing that afternoon with Pardo will be: Sergio Pamies -- Spanish jazz pianist, composer and arranger who’s performed at festivals in America, Asia and Europe and who teaches at the University of Cincinnati-CCM.
David Heyn -- active bassist from Central Texas with a major interest in Latin music and jazz.
Lupe Barrera -- drummer, percussionist and educator based in McAllen who teaches at Hidalgo Early College HS and is an active performer and studio musician.
Rene Gonzalez -- winner of multiple national awards as a percussionist in Central Texas where he is a lecturer for the Latin Music Studies Program at Texas State University.
Seating for the 3 p.m. concert in the sanctuary of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 North Llano, will begin at 2:30 p.m. on a first-come, firstserved basis. The performance is free, although goodwill offerings are welcome.
Daniel Pardo
Houston resident Daniel Pardo works regularly as a studio musician and orchestral and commercial settings, fusing Western classical traditions with ethnic sounds and technology. Born in Bogota, Columbia, his performer/producer roles have led to special collaborations in recordings and tours with artists and producers in Los Angeles, Nashville and Dallas.
Pardo frequently plays at conferences for the National Flute Association, Jazz Education Network, and Texas Music Educators Association in addition to off¬ering concerts and masterclasses at universities in North and South America as well as Flute Associations in the US, Colombia, Peru, and Hong Kong.
While in the US military, he played principal flute with the Marine Band San Diego, Marine Forces Pacific in Hawaii and the 36th ID Texas Army National Guard Band. Recognitions as a military musician include the Navy and Marine CorpsAchievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Colonel George Howard Citation of Musical Excellence.
Pardo holds music performance degrees from Texas State University (B.M.) and the University of North Texas (M.M. & D.M.A.). In Houston, he is Assistant Professor of Flute at Prairie View A&M University and a Yamaha Performing Artist & Clinician.
As an educator, he has presented in major conferences as well as universities in North and South America, including the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory or Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, Longy School of Music, University of North Texas, University of Texas at Arlington, Texas State University, University of Northern Colorado, Oklahoma Baptist University, University of Denver, Universidad de Las Americas (Quito, Ecuador), Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Columbia) and Universidad del Valle (Cali, Columbia).
In addition to freewill offerings given at the door of the November 19 concert, that afternoon’s performance is also being partially funded by donations from members of the Fredericksburg Music Club.
At the afternoon concert, membership cards for individuals or corporate sponsors wishing to join the Fredericksburg Music Club will also be available at the door.
