Mr. and Mrs. Damon E. Cavness of Cherokee have announced the engagement of their granddaughter, Miss Sharon Kay Cavness, to Rudy Alton Schaefer. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Schaefer of Willow City.
Mrs. Harry Doran Sr. is a guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Murray, and expects to visit many of her friends while here. She came to attend the wedding of her granddaughter, Betty Murray and Dr. Mark Nichols in Austin and San Saba High School commencement when her grandson, Sam Murray, will receive his diploma.
Stephen Dale Slaughter, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Slaughter received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in ceremonies at Texas A&I University in Kingsville. Slaughter accepted a position with Kroger Company, Inc. in Houston.
Mrs. V. E. Abernathy of Odessa spent several days visiting her sisters and families, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Patrick and Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Johnson, and attended Richland Springs High School graduation. Her niece, Gayle Johnson, was one of the graduates.
U.S. Air Force Sgt. Cecil M. Price, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted C. Price of San Saba, has arrived for duty at Bergstrom, AFB. Sgt. Price, medical supply specialist, is assigned at the Air Force Hospital. His wife, Betty, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Dennis of Rochelle.
City Manager James Reavis was advised by the Lower Colorado River Authority of a possible 20 per cent curtailment of electric power used by the city of San Saba. 'We are still in the middle of an energy crisis,' Reavis explained. 'Please help us conserve energy and water as much as possible.'

San Saba Elementary School has been awarded a Certificate of Exceptional Effort from the Texas School Safety Honor Roll Program recognizing its support of safety education and accidental prevention.
Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Plumley announce the approaching marriage of their son, Cody Allen, to Misty Kay Davis of Junction. The bride elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Davis.
Stars and Stripes of Old Glory will be waving May 31, 1993 at Bend over the granite marker honoring the seven young men of surrounding communities who gave their lives in World War I and II.
Kenneth Head was honored as Rotarian of the Year for his outstanding efforts during his term as president. This award was presented during the Annual Honor Students Banquet. Kenneth was accompanied by his wife, Pat.
Larry Shivener was awarded the 4-Way Test Award by the San Saba Rotary Club. This award was presented at the Annual Honor Student Banquet. Larry was accompanied by his wife, Yvonne.
The Gifted-Talented students in grades 5-8 recently attended 'Medieval Times' in Dallas. The year was 1093 AD and San Saba plus hundreds of other friends were the guests of the Lords of the Castle. The students were greeted by Count Don Raimundo II. They stepped back 1000 years in time when they viewed the torture chamber. The students were served a four course meal which they ate entirely with their fingers.
