June 22, 1922

Rupert Deese, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Deese was one of the graduates of the Naval Academy of Annapolis, Md. He received a commission in the service stationed with the Marine Corps in Virginia.

Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Hennersdorf have returned to their home in San Angelo after a pleasant visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Arhelger.

Mrs. Charley Gray and children passed thru here enroute to their home at Brady after a visit with the former's mother, Mrs. J. T. Scott of Cherokee.

The Rev. B. D. D. Greer performed a sunrise wedding when he united Miss Wynogene Kimbrough and Mr. Houston R. Hunter in marriage at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Kimbrough. These young people have many friends here who join us in wishing for them happiness and prosperity.

Mr. and Mrs. Smoot Trammel of Big Wells were weekend visitors with her mother, Mrs. Della Means. Their daughter, Susan, returned home with her parents after a visit here with her grandmother.

According to the records of the San Saba Memorial Hospital, there was a baby born during the period of June 11 to June 18. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Howard Wiley of Richland Springs are the parents of Claire Ranee, nine pounds, born June 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Gatliff of San Saba have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Virginia Mae, to Clarence Vaughn Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Vaughn Sr. of Richland Springs.

Phyllis Weeks of Houston left after a week's visit with her cousin, Kathy Garvin, in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Garvin.

Mr. and Mrs. G. D. McDaniel of Algerita had as Father's Day guests their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Guy D. McDaniel and daughter, Jan, of Killeen.

Mr. and Mrs. Jess Askey and Ann have had as their guests the past week, Miss Cynthia McMahan of Shephenville and Richard H. Pierson of Little Rock, Ark.

The Texas State Liquor Control Board, with W. A. Phillips, district supervisor, filed charges in county court for the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages against four San Saba men, according to Ben Blossman, deputy sheriff. The bootleggers were identified by an undercover man working here during the rodeo, Blossman stated. Each of the offenders pleaded guilty before Judge Warden Terry and fines were assessed. One of the men was fined $128 on one charge, while the other three each paid fines of $256 on two counts against them.
