A community social will be held at the Pecan Grove school house Friday night. Refreshments will be served and games will be played. Those who can bring domino tables are requested to do so. A member of the San Saba County Farm Bureau will make a short talk.
San Saba banks will be closed all day on General Election Day, Tuesday, November 2. Banking transactions should be arranged Monday to provide for financial requirements the following day.
San Sabans will join the rest of Texas and the nation at the polls Tuesday to cast their votes in the General Election. While this country is almost completely Democratic, candidates are listed on the ballot for seven parties.
The Wiley B. Murray American Legion Pot and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post are asking the cooperation of local merchants in displaying flags on national holidays and military occasions, the next of which falls on Nov. 11. To assist merchants in cooperating with their project, the posts are offering 4x6-ft. flags, complete with standard and sidewalk holder, for ten dollars.
The San Saba Junior Armadillos, victors over the Fredericksburg Juniors 8-0 here last week, will go to Mason tonight to test strength with the junior team there.
Wiley B. Murray American Legion Post Ladies' Night, originally planned for tonight, has been postponed until next Thursday night, due to a conflict with the PTA Halloween Carnival scheduled tonight.
"To contribute to the advancement of one's community, a person must make up his mind one way or another," Chief Justice Roy C. Archer of the Third Court of Civil Appeals at Austin, told San Saba Jaycees and their guests last Thursday night at the annual Ladies Night supper held at the Jaycee Hall west of town. He denounced the negative position as worthless, and called up his listeners to be definite, be considerate and be builders. Archer spoke to a near-capacity audience. A chicken and dressing supper was served.

Rafie Romero, a local winner of the eight-year-old group in the Punt, Pass and Kick Competition held here on Oct. 12, was first place winner of his group in the Zone Competition held in San Angelo Saturday, according to Paul Golding of Golding Motors, local sponsor. The son of Mrs. Maurine Romero, he will go to Dallas to compete in District Contests, Golding said.
Mrs. Clara Bolinger honored her granddaughter, Stacy Bolinger, on her sixth birthday with a party after school. Birthday cake, ice cream and punch were served to 21 children and four mothers.
Mr. and Mrs. George Wilton of Richland Springs have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Linda Kay Wilton to Jerry C. Glover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oma Glover of Dumas.
There were two babies born in San Saba Memorial Hospital from Oct. 14 to Oct. 21. Mr. and Mrs. David Rojas are the parents of Felix Adan, nine pounds, five ounces, born Oct. 15. Mr. and Mrs. Billy G. Ringo are the parents of Richard Ray seven pounds, 15 ounces, born Oct. 19.
Work is underway in preparing a parking lot at the old High School building. The parking area is located on the north side of the building and will be used by the students and teachers. Additional parking area at the school had been needed for some time.
TUNA TATTOO

2 cans (6 1/2 or 7 oz. ) tuna
2 tbsp. chopped onion
2 cups diced cooked potatoes
1 1/4 cups evaporated milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 can whole kernel corn
3 Tbsp. flour
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup shredded American cheese
Drain 3 Tbsp. oil from tuna, reserve. Combine tuna, onion, potatoes, 1/4 cup of the milk, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. pepper. Press mixture over bottom and sides of shallow two-quart casserole. Drain corn, add corn liquid to remaining cup of milk. Heat reserved oil in a saucepan, blend in flour, remaining 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/8 tsp. pepper. Gradually add milk mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and corn. Turn into lined casserole. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in 350-degree oven for 30 minutes. When casserole is removed from oven, place hard cooked egg slices on casserole and arrange green pepper strips in irregular spoke design around egg slices.
