    50 Years Ago November 29, 1973

    Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Adams of San Saba announce the birth of a son, Jerad Glenn, Nov. 13. He was born in Childress Hospital, Goldthwaite, and weighed seven pounds, nine ounces. This is the couple's first child. Mrs. Adams is the former Paula Holland.

    Joe Goodloe and his sisters, Mrs. Georgia Whitley and Mrs. Maude Crockett were honored with a birthday dinner in the home of Mrs. Whitley. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Maultsby of Eden sent beautiful flowers and provided for a birthday cake for the honorees.

    Mr. and Mrs. William Clark, Bobby, Danny and Boyd Lacey visited the children's great grandfather, Don Sanders, in Oklahoma during the Thanksgiving holidays and from there went to Dora, N.M. for a visit with the boy's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hays.

    SAN SABA JUNIOR HIGH HONOR ROLL– SIXTH GRADE: Bryan Hector and Travis Young. SEVENTH GRADE: Barry Senterfitt, Richard Dawson and Diane Senterfitt. EIGHTH GRADE: Charles Miffleton, Rafie Romero, Alan Trotter and Melissa Polaski.

    A small airplane, missing since Nov. 4, was found 16 miles southeast of San Saba where it had crashed into a hillside on the Tony Kirk ranch. Also found were the bodies of two men from Fort Worth and sacks of dried, compressed grass believed to be Marijuana.

    Mr. and Mrs. James F. Clark were honored with a reception in the Gold Room of Ranchmen's Tower Hotel in observance of their 40th wedding anniversary.

    30 Years Ago December 2, 1993

    San Saba Intermediate school has just elected new student council officers for this year. They are: President- Misty Saldivar, Vice President/Treasurer- Jason Shahan, Secretary/ Reporter-Aleisha Graves, and Historians-Brandy Hyatt and Jacquelyn Stewardson.

    Thanksgiving Day dawned with freezing rain, sleet, and temperatures in the 20' s, causing hazardous driving for many holiday travelers. Friday morning was bright and sunny, but still very cold.

    Thanksgiving dinner guests of Gene and Helon Mayer were Lois Lane, and all their children, John Lane and Jennie and James Lane from San Marcos, Leslie and Cindy Means and sons of San Saba. They enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner.

    The Richland Springs High School Lady Coyotes basketball team improved their record 4-1 on the year, defeating the Mullin Bulldogs 56-51. The Lady Coyotes started out slow the first quarter, but increased the pace the 2nd and 3rd quarters, outscoring the Bulldogs 38-15.

    November has been a dry month this year, with only .4 of rainfall. Temperatures have been cold with 15° Saturday morning. We had sleet and a drizzle of rain for Thanksgiving Day, but the skies cleared that night and the days have been pretty since then. Just fall weather for us. The weather has been good for deer hunting and the deer are plentiful this year.
