San Saba Little Leaguers were presented lapel medals recently for having won the championship of their home district this season. The San Saba Lions club is reported to be planning a party for the boys.
Mr. and Mrs. Rader Dick and family recently returned from a week's vacation and pleasure trip. They visited in Las Vegas, Nev., and Red River, N. M.
PANGBURNS CANDY from a Refrigerated Case at CITY DRUG STORE Court house janitor Dan Peterson took his annual vacation last week, visiting his sister and other relatives in Ft. Worth.
Pvt. Billy J. Gunter, who is stationed in Munson, Korea, writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gunter, that he arrived in Korea only a few hours before the peace treaty was signed. He states that he is now on thirty days of temporary duty assisting in bringing the American prisoners back across the lines.
A cool front that blew in at dawn brought San Sabans at least temporary relief from oppressive heat that had passed the 105 degree mark everyday the past week. The front ushered in light showers at San Saba, with prospects for more.
The tax on theater admissions in San Saba is higher than in most towns. It cost one man $23 recently. Records in the Justice of Peace Court for the past week show that a man pleaded guilty to running his car without lights and trying to slip into the drive-in theater. Judge Joe Clark assessed a $23 fine.
The State Highway Department has assumed maintenance of the Colorado river bridge at Bend, and will pave about 2 1/2 miles of approaches on both sides of the river. The bridge, a wire cable suspension type, was constructed following the 1938 flood which completely washed away the old structure. Construction on the bridge began in 1939 and was completed in February, 1940.

Rocky Terry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warden Terry, received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Joey Hardman and Connie McKinnerney attended the rodeo at Goldthwaite over the weekend. Joey won first place in tiedown roping and Connie was first in barrel racing.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Miller are parents of a daughter, Zane, seven pounds, six ounces, born Aug. 10.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gomez are the parents of Cecilia, seven pounds, 12 ounces, born Aug. 11.
Dalton R. Gossett, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Gossett, will receive the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Texas A&M University. A 1964 graduate of San Saba High School, he earned his degree in plant physiology and has accepted a position at the University of Lexington in Kentucky.
Mr. and Mrs. Burton Doran and daughters, Kristi and Michele, attended commencement exercises at Texas A&M University when Randall Doran received his DVM degree from TAMU's College of Veterinary Medicine.
John D. Jones, Ricky L. Hyatt and Marvin Weatherby, all of San Saba, have received certificates denoting their completion of training from the James Connally Campus of Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. Jones studied diesel and construction equipment mechanics; Hyatt, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and Weatherby, livestock and ranch operations.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Robertson of Wallace Creek spent some time at their ranch here and visited Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Wood.
