The Distinguished Dillo

SSHS TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators)

The San Saba High School TAFE organization has completed their annual service project. The students chose to create a professional dress closet for students. The Distinguished Dillo, located at the old LaCitta Pizza building across from the high school on Wallace Street, was created to provide students, staff, and eventually the community an opportunity to dress professionally for special events without the added expense of purchasing the appropriate attire. The Distinguished Dillo brings a unique aspect of shopping to our small town with limited resources for buying dress clothes. Students and staff may come shop, try on, and check-out clothing and accessories by scheduled appointment. The Distinguished Dillo uses a library style system to keep track of the items leaving and returning to our store. If someone falls in love with an item, they may choose to keep it and donate an equivalent item in its place. The closet is currently stocked with a variety of sizes and styles for both male and female students. We also have shoes and accessories available for check-out.

TAFE is accepting donations of professional style clothing and accessories which include shoes, ties, belts, jewelry, etc. Any clothing that does not fit our criteria will be given to the local nursing home. We are also in need of hangers!

We plan to open The Distinguished Dillo to the community in the Fall of 2023. Woohoo! If you would like to come by and check out The Distinguish Dillo or make a donation, please contact the San Saba High School office or Connie Powell (TAFE teacher leader and Educational Pathway instructor) at (325)3723786. Thank you and remember, if you need to find some professional dress attire and you can’t find affordable clothing, contact us for a free checkout of different types of professional attire.
