Community Thanksgiving Free Meal Report

The Community Thanksgiving Free Meal was started around 30 years ago by the late John Northern who invested a lot in this community. His brother-in-law, Scott Fuller, continued to support the meal and worked with me diligently. I received word this month that Scott died on September 4th. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm, kindness and support.

The Meal planning is off to a great start. Lowe’s Market will be supplying 30 turkeys; San Saba Order of Eastern Star, 10 turkeys; and The Salvation Army will supply 45 dozen rolls.

Volunteers are needed at The Fathers' House (TFH) on Wednesday, November 25th, at 1 p.m. to prepare food and package items. People may drop off desserts at TFH that day also starting at 8 a.m. to be packaged for individual portions.

Volunteers are needed on Thursday, November 26th, at The Civic Center to prepare the food at 8 a.m., serve the food or deliver the food at 10:30 a.m.

Shut-ins and homebound because of the virus meals will be delivered. Please call and give your name, phone number, address and how many meals to TFH, 372-5916 or Alice Smith, 372-3582. No calls after Monday, November 23rd.

This is a community project and especially this year, very important. To offset the cost, businesses, churches and individuals may make tax deductible donations to The Fathers' House, P.O. Box 545, San Saba, TX. 76877. Give thanks with a grateful heart!
