Two Cousins, One Dream — Bringing a Little Taste of Mexico to San Saba This week’s San Saba County Chamber of Commerce Business Spotlight is shining on La Tiendita “Las Comadres,” a locally owned shop that truly has a little bit of everything! They are located at 206 E Commerce St., Suite 3.
Owned by cousins Alisha Ferrer and Sara Ontiveros, La Tiendita “Las Comadres” brings together Mexican imports, delicious snacks and drinks, everyday essentials, and a variety of convenient services—all under one roof.
The story behind La Tiendita “Las Comadres” began almost as an inside joke between two cousins. Sara had already started selling blankets and pottery from her home while Alisha was working a full-time job. Then, in October, Sara suggested something bigger: “Let’s open a store.” Things moved quickly! By November, they had found a location, and by the end of January, La Tiendita “Las Comadres” was open for business.
As Alisha describes it, their story is simple: “Two cousins, one dream.” And that dream has continued to grow. The cousins recently expanded La Tiendita “Las Comadres” by opening a second location in Brady!
Step inside La Tiendita “Las Comadres,” and you’ll quickly see why the name tiendita—or “little store”—fits so well. They have a little bit of everything. Alisha and Sara travel to find unique products that aren’t readily available in San Saba, giving customers a shopping experience that feels a little like visiting the small shops and markets of Mexico without leaving town.
More Than a Store
