Central Texas College (CTC) will host two new student orientations for the upcoming fall semester. Students only need to attend one of the sessions and can choose a virtual or inperson option. Each orientation will offer students an overview of policies, procedures, class delivery and other information relevant to their success during the semester.
The first orientation is a virtual session on Wednesday, August 2, from 5 – 9 p.m. The second orientation will be held in the Anderson Campus Center (Bldg. 224) on August 17 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Both sessions will provide information on Blackboard - the school’s online learning management system; financial aid, scholarship and grant opportunities; academic advising; tips for being successful in class; safety and security; Title IX; and student and academic services.
A faculty panel will also be held to give students the opportunity to ask questions and learn from instructors about classes, academic programs and more. The discussion will be followed by a general questionand- answer session to address any student concerns.
“Attending college classes can be a bit intimidating for firsttimers,” said Mariceli Santiago-Cruz, director – CTC Student Life and Activities and host of the new student orientations. “Our orientations will offer a comfort level so new students can feel a little more at ease when they arrive on campus to attend classes or manage online courses. And for prospective students who are considering attending CTC, the sessions will prove very valuable in helping them decide CTC is a great place to start their higher education.”
