The Bend News

Hello from Bend!

I am so envious of the stories I hear about how growing up in Bend used to be. The community was full of youngin’s runnin’ all around…..that was many years ago. Sadly, there aren’t too many kiddos out this way anymore, but we love to brag on them when we get the chance!

● Catherine Anne Hicks recently took her show lambs to San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. She did not place, but she had a good time visiting her brother, John, and in Austin visiting with her sister, Jimma. Catherine is a senior at Lampasas High School and will be attending Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, in the fall.

● Cooper McWilliams, son of Toby and Vicki McWilliams, from Bend, won 7th in Region in Weight Lifting! Cooper represents Bend well as a sophomore at Llano High School.

● River Anne Harris, my youngest kiddo, worked her tail off making, marketing, presenting, selling and profiting her very own product, River’s Relaxing Sugar Scrubs, for the Cherokee Elementary Economics Fair. She did an excellent job and is the winner of the Best Customer Service award! I am one proud momma. River is a 5th grader at Cherokee and excited to start Junior High next year! She still has some Sugar Scrubs for sale, by the way. *wink*

Few were present, but a good time was still had at the Bend Community Meeting this past Saturday. We hope to see more community members next month on the 3rd Saturday! All are invited and welcome.

We want to wish an unforgettable, joyous birthday to Cathy Gibson, who celebrated on March 23rd. Happy Birthday and cheers to many more, Cathy!!! Also celebrating with anniversaries this week are:

● Michelle and Jeremiah

Lock - March 24th

● Jim and Edna Machen - March 25th

Happy Anniversary to you! May you continue to bless, cherish, and love one another each and every day!

This wraps it up for the week. Please reach out to me with any and all Bend news that you would like to share! Otherwise, I’ll have to start telling stories and jokes….and my better half, Pete Henniger, gets tired of me laughing at my own material. Ha!

Speaking of jokes, I have a chemistry joke, but I don’t think it will get a reaction.

I also have a ‘dad joke’, but I was told it is inappropriate if you aren’t a ‘dad’. It would be a ‘faux pa’. Then, there’s a construction joke…but I’m still working on it.

Count your blessings, stay humble, and pray for rain. Brandie from the Bend
