The Bend News

Love is in the air this week folks….or is cedar?! Well, it’s both actually. This week we celebrate Valentine’s Day, the holiday of couples, romance and love! Don’t forget the chocolate. Seriously y’all, don’t ever forget the chocolate. ;-) You’ll thank me for that later.

Also celebrated this week, on February 13th, was the 72nd birthday of the truly fabulous, Toni Clark Mayben! Happy Birthday, Toni; you deserve the best year yet!!

Bend United Methodist Church had a lovely “Sweetheart Breakfast” earlier this week. It was reported as a good turn out with great fellowship. I also heard that the men did a great job cooking, which is no surprise. The meal included bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits and hash browns. Oh, and of course love. LOTS of love.

One thing is for sure in Bend; you can’t have love in the air this time of year without it being heavily mixed with the essence of pollen. It will surely bring a tear (or 100) to your eye. The allergy forecast this week is predicted to be high again. Our sneezy, itchy, watery-eyed culprits include Juniper, Ash, and Elm…all on my list of confirmed enemies…I mean allergies. My symptoms get worse each year, and I am determined to find some home remedies that work. I have tried many things and will soon be resorting to allergy shots. I am most definitely tired of ‘nasal irrigation.’ Doesn’t that just sound like you’re installing a sprinkler system in your nose?! I swear I almost drown myself every time I use one of those sinus devices. Speaking of sinus devices…here’s a *Shout Out* to my Aunt Jenna and Uncle Mike for recently teaching me the PC (Pollenically Correct) term ‘snotty potty’. Y’all will thank me for that later, too.

Honestly, folks, I’m not sure of any other way to end this article, other than using the fine words of the dearly missed and never forgotten, R.J. Henniger. He never failed to make someone snicker when he said “I thought my nose was running….but it snot”.

Please feel free to reach out and let me hear your MUST-TRY allergy remedies!

Don’t forget about the Bend Community Meeting this Saturday, February 19th, at 6:00 p.m. Come hungry for pizza and salad!
