Greetings from The Bend!
My name is Laura Beth (Hicks) Henniger. I grew up in Bend; my family is from Bend. I have been given the opportunity to start writing the Bend News. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while!
News from the Methodist church: Lewvon Hicks’ great-granddaughter Selma was diagnosed with cancer back in January at only five months old. Lewvon is happy to announce that Selma is 13 months old and is cancer free! To God be the Glory! Jackie announced that his sister-in-law Gladys fell and broke her elbow. Please pray for her healing. HEB in Lampasas donated some goodies for the BUMC’s backpack ministry.
This past weekend was the Baxter reunion! They got together at the Bend community center. It was a wonderful occasion.
Don’t forget that on September 21st we will be starting up the Community Meetings again! They are scheduled for the third Saturday of every month.
This month we will be planning the fish fry. I am starting to collect old photos for a project I’m working on for the community center. Please don't hesitate to reach out with photos or stories. I am not necessarily wanting originals, but if you are wanting to donate them, I will make sure they get framed and displayed at the school house. I am wanting to scan the photos for my project for the community center. If you or someone you know has some pictures please reach out to me. The community center is also getting ready to start collecting recipes for a new cookbook! This cookbook will be all new recipes. If you have any recipes please email them to bendcca@gmail.com.
