Hello from Bend,
It’s another hot, dry one. Temps outside lately feel like fiery flames, encompassing every step we take outside. I made a conscious effort to make calls this week to get some news to share with you all, but I didn't come across anyone with anything to share. No one seems to be leaving their houses. I’d have to say that’s a pretty smart decision.
According to weather.com the Bend community is in its driest year in 128 years!!! Wow; that is definitely scary. Live trees are twisting and breaking from being so dry. Creeks are about dried up and the Colorado River is dropping significantly each day. Colorado Bend State Park’s boat ramp is completely out of the water as the river steadily gets smaller with each day that goes by without rain. With the continuously brutal 100+ degree days, the majority of us are tempted to go get in the water to cool off, but unfortunately there isn’t too much water to get into.
To top it off, those that don’t have well water and are customers of Corix…well, we’ve been dealing with brown water. Funny enough, we received a notice that the Boil Advisory was lifted. Ummm, what boil notice?! No one I have spoken to received a notice even alerting that a boil advisory had gone into effect to begin with. Not to mention that the water got worse after they gave the “OK” to drink it. Ignoring the fragrance pearls…take a look above at what I did NOT wash my clothes in. That is the water we are paying to drink, cook, wash dishes, bathe, and wash our clothes in. Classy, Corix…. classy. I’d like to cordially invite all of the Corix corporate bigwigs over for a nice glass of their quality control approved, overpriced, perfectly drinkable, BROWN water. I’ll have a big glass waiting for ya’!
If you can’t tell, the heat has people, (ME!), a little grumpy. I’ll do my best to bring y’all some breaking Bend News next week…and hopefully a more chipper attitude.
Until next week…
Yours Truly,
Brandie from the Bend
