The Bend News

Hello from Bend,

Y’all! Monday, I heard a noise at 1:30 a.m., jumped out of bed, and jolted to the door. I knew I had heard the sound before, but not in a long time. I wasn’t certain if I was hearing things or if “it” was really happening. I opened the door and gasped! RAIN!!!!!! I’m gonna take it that everyone did the rain dance that I suggested last week! *wink* We got a bit more rain in Bend on Monday evening and my 10-year-old, River, was soaking wet playing in it. That’s a girl after my own heart. She is perfectly content being dirty and playing in the mud. River returned from church

River returned from church camp, and now Waylon is at camp this week. I love that they have the opportunity for these experiences. No matter what age, it’s always weird when one of the kiddos isn’t home. I stay consistently busy with work, kids, and life, but randomly I find myself in new creative phases. My hobbies always come in intense waves; my family never knows what ideas, crafts, or DIY projects I am going to come up with or be determined to try next. My latest obsession is propagating plants! To sum it up, I’ve spent days covered in dirt, ripping leaves off of perfectly good plants and trying to multiply them. I’ve also rearranged plants in the exact same spots probably two dozen times each. You know what though…. it’s actually looking really good. I’ve somewhat created my own little botanical meditation space! It’s early on in this hobby mommy mojo moment, but I’m pretty confident that I will not kill everything immediately. I will however take pictures now in case it doesn’t last long, haha.

Pete and I spent a couple days in Austin this last week with oncology appointments. His options for treatment have come to an end for now. We are anxiously awaiting a new treatment that was FDA approved earlier this year. In the meantime, it is a relief to give him a break from all the medicines though. Cancer sucks, but we know that God is good. All the time. We continue to welcome everyone’s prayers.

Glen (Handy Andy) Gibson and wife, Cathy Gibson, celebrate an anniversary coming up on July 7th. We wish them a fabulous day and many more years to come!

Speaking of anniversaries, I have my first retraction to make! Oops. When announcing celebrations a couple weeks ago I reported William and Jane Clark’s anniversary being on June 16th. That was false. I have since reported that June 16th was William’s birthday. William and Jane will celebrate their anniversary in January….and now we are ahead of the game in congratulating them. *cheers*

Until next week…Yours Truly,

Brandie from the Bend
