When my husband Larry and I lived near San Saba, we enjoyed the pecans from our pecan trees. We gathered them and took some to Mexico. They enjoyed eating them, and since they are a soft shell, they crushed the shell by putting them in their mouth. I put the nuts in a crusher that looks like pliers. I have noticed that northern folks pronounce them as 'pea cans.' Trees provide shade, shelter, food, furniture, toys, homes, utensils, baskets, and etc. I saw a sign years ago that read: Have you thanked a tree today?

We are in the 'days of tribu-lation.' Webster's dictionary meaning of tribulation is:1.) Great misery or distress, as from oppression; deep sorrow. 2.) something that causes distress; an affliction. There is tribulation in our families, churches, employment, government and countries. We need help to understand what is happening and what we should do. Psalm 46:1 & 2 The Living Bible...God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And so we need not fear even if the world blows up and the mountains crumble into the sea.
