Alice in Wonder Land

My daughter, Jenny, ran a relay commemorating the 9/11 attack on America. I was thankful I could be there cheering her on as she ran in the rain. I am so proud of her. She was escorted by the Gratiot Fire Department with flashing lights.

There were nine condo residents who ate at the Olive Garden for this month's lunch. I rode with Katha Mercer and was thankful for the ride because I am still learning how to get places.

I was in a hurry to walk Ellie Tuesday morning and put on socks that did not match, but we never usually see anyone in the mornings. However, another resident was walking, and we talked a little bit. And told her about the socks. She told me that wasn't unusual now because teenagers were doing that on purpose. So, now I feel young and stylish!

After church Sunday, I went to my niece, Tina's home because I needed to return a book to her and give her two books that I bought at the Goodwill store. Tina and I ate at a Spanish restaurant five minutes from her home. Her husband, Dan, is on a special diet, so he ate at home. The food was good, but talking and sharing our lives and memories was great. After lunch, I drove to Roseville and visited my niece, Beth Ann. I took her a vase and slippers that featured Betty Boop (her mother's name was Betty - she died when Beth was in her 30's) and a book about Morraco that her father gave me when he was stationed in that country. In the book was a note from him to me hoping it would help me for a book report in school. Beth was emotional about seeing her father's handwriting. Her father died when she was 17 years old. We got 'caught up' on her two sons' lives, her granddaughter's activities and remembered with love when Larry married Beth and Randy Smith.

I planned these visits to my nieces before my trip to San Saba, Texas, this week. Yes, I am so excited! I will drive to Jeff and Jackie Moales home in Portland, Ohio, and ride with them to Texas! They will bring me to San Saba and then go to Alvarado where Jeff will be preaching Saturday and Sunday. No Alice in Wonder Land next week because I will be vacationing in Texas!

I tell people that I am adjusting to life in Ohio and being rehabilitated (that means to restore or put back in good condition) with God's help.
