After lunch today, Friday September 1st, I saw the news report on TV that a record number of people would be flying on planes and driving during this Labor Day Weekend that included Monday. I realized that the news office would be closed Monday when I usually send in this article so I needed to get it done this afternoon. Then the news gave an update on the hurricane that hit areas in the U.S. and of uncontrolled fires. Speaking of fires, San Saba News & Star reported a large structure fire in the 2700 block of West Wallace Street. The San Saba Volunteer Fire Department may have been overwhelmed without a tremendous outpouring of support from neighboring fire departments and law enforcement officers. The San Saba community once again rallied to aid first responders with generous donations of water, food, expressions of concern, prayers and moral support.
Tuesday morning of this week when I went to sit on my porch, there was a spider on the chair. It scampered down and towards the door to my condo that was not completely closed. I got the cane I had on the porch to smash it, but it was gone when I turned around, assuming it came into my condo. I have poked around, moved furniture, put afghans under doors but no sight of the spider. I want to get that spider before it gets me! Oh yes, I think about it morning, noon and night.
Prayer is the key to Heaven but FAITH unlocks the door. I have probably referred to the words to this older song before, but it is worth thinking (or praying) every day. Romans 8:26-28 The Living Bible...And in the same way—by our faith—the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how to pray as we should; but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows, of course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God's own will. And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into His plans.
