It is amazing how God directs our lives when many times we do not understand. In 2006 when my husband Larry and I moved to San Saba, Texas, from Gratiot, Ohio, Bobby Duncan's wife (can't remember her name) stopped by our church, Abundant Life Ministries, as we were getting it ready for services. She invited us to attend The Shepard's Touch, a group of pastors and their wives from nondenominational churches. The friendships from this group 'carried on' after we sold the church and became members of The Fathers House. Members of The Fathers House made work trips to San Fernando, Mexico; gave financial support to help build a Bible Training School and Templo Zion church; and supported Pastor Gabriel and mission trips. The Fathers House has a Memorial Garden to the left of the entrance to the fellowship hall. On the brick wall are photo memorials for Jim Childress, 129-16; Teresa Hoyt, 6-29-18; Jane Carter, 6-22-20; Larry Smith, 11-22-20; and Marvin Riggs, 2-2-23. I hope to come see this memorial next year.
The topic of my devotional Journal by Oswald Chambers for today, 8-28, was The Purpose of Prayer; Luke 11:1....One of His disciples said to Him, “Lord teach us to pray.” I turned to the front of the Journal for the copyright date and saw that it was printed in China, 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc. The book IF YOU WILL ASK by Oswald Chambers in 1989 was printed in the United States of America. I am going to find out why the devotional Journals are being printed by a communist country and not in the USA. So, back to today's topic The Purpose of Prayer. I have known that 'prayer changes things' but realize that 'prayer changes ME and then I change things.' NKJV John 16:33. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
