Alice in Wonder Land

I enjoyed my job at the San Saba News & Star, especially being in contact with people at the office or as a reporter. Jim Gage wrote a weekly column before he died, and we had some great conversations when he brought in his articles. He gave me his book, The Flip Side of Rapture.

Dwight Harkey brought his weekly article about Harkeyville to the office. Dwight brought me a cookbook to get some recipes from northen Ohio where his wife lived before moving to Texas. I did not know his wife before she died. Dwight has many relatives in San Saba county. I met Bonnie Harkey when our cars 'bumped into each other' at the Print Shop. Not much damage and we enjoyed 'bumping into each other' at the Christian Women's monthly meetings. The entire county mourned Bonnie's death, killed by her stepson. One of Dwight's cousins moved to San Saba, attended The Father House, and went to the Christian Women's meetings with me. I helped her on moving day to (I think) Marble Falls. I cannot remember her name and have pictures of her move to give her but no address. Marsha Harkey Childress has a special place in my heart. Our husbands were 'blood brothers' when Jim mistakenly cut Larry's hand holding drywall at a Mission San Saba. Now, as widows, Marsha and I share a special bond.

On the back cover of Jim Gage's book, The Flip Side of Rapture, is this important sentence: 'Jim believes that many of the end time events mentioned in the Bible will force all to need a vital anchor to endure the test that all will have to experience and it can only be found in God, or Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit.' John 16:33 Jesus said: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
