On Saturday, October 9th, my daughter Jenny will be running a leg of the Great American Relay on Route 40 and raise money for First Responders. Last year she ran five miles east to west. This year she will start at Gratiot and be escorted by the Fire Department and run west to east. I will be there to cheer her on.

Rehearsals for The Messiah will start weekly in Zanesville this month, but I will not be singing this year. The vision in my right eye is impaired because I need cataract surgery. I had a cataract removed in my left eye in 2020 at Marble Falls, Texas, so the right eye is well over due for surgery.

The Smith Reunion was held Sunday, October 2nd, in the Community Building at the Colony Hill Condo's across the street from where I live in Zanesville, Ohio. I took the scrapbook that I made of my recent trip to Mexico for people to see. Many memories and loving comments were about my husband Larry who died 11-22-20 and his brother Joe who died 2-12-22.

There has been a change in the weather here, and my chocolate lab Ellie loves it being cooler. Tonight the forecast is to be in the 30s that will change the leaves on the trees to beautiful fall colors. I plan to invite my neighbor to ride with me to the country to enjoy the scenery. The scenery in Florida has been changed by flooding and destruction from a hurricane. I called and checked on the Toomey families in Virginia and Florida and was thankful for the report that they are okay.

The daily devotional by Oswald Chambers on October 3rd reads: 'Can I face things as they actually are, or do things as they are erase altogether my faith in God, and put me into panic?' ….Words to an old song reads: 'Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace.'
