The trip to see my granddaughter and family in Tennessee has been canceled twice because of sickness and weather. Sooooo there is a break in the weather, and I will be flying out Friday, February 11th, with my daughter Jenny. I am looking forward to the visit and thankful Jenny will be there helping me because I have gone to the wrong airline to register, taken things in my purse I shouldn't (pocket knife), left my checkbook on the plane, didn't identify my suitcase although it was the only one going around, and couldn't lift my carry-on to the over-head compartment.
An airline ticket agent had been given a rough time by a woman who complained about the departure times. She said, “Young man, I could stick a feather in my ear and get there faster.” The agent responded, “Madam, the runways are clear.” That was a quote from my cousin E. James Dickey's 4th book, EXCELSIOR. 'Jim' and his wife Sally live in Northbrook, Illinois. My mother was the oldest of the three Davis girls and Jim's mother, the middle girl. It is my desire and hope to get together with Jim and Sally when they come to visit his sister Janet in Powell, Ohio.
The winter Olympic's in China has certainly been different because of covid and the accusation that China has persecuted and imprisoned Christians. The book, The Heavenly Man, is the remarkable true story of Chinese Christian Brother Yun. Brother Yun suffered prolonged torture and imprisonment for his faith. He and his family fled China and traveled widely from Germany emphasizing the character and beauty of Jesus and not dwelling on the experiences suffered in China.
I had my annual Wellness examination this week. The questions were about how a person is dealing physically and emotionally with 'old age.' One of the questions was: Do you have thoughts of not wanting to live? My answer: “Sometimes I don't want to live in Zanesville, Ohio. I'd rather be in San Saba, Texas!'
