It was great getting a call from Joan Van Gorp last week. We talked about Trade Days, families, friends and the weather conditions.
There are catastrophic situations everywhere on this earth that is our home. I noticed that the word catastrophic begins with 'cat.' In a Webster's Dictionary, there are 56 words beginning with 'cat.' There are 18 words that begin with 'dog.' The definitions are all different, and so are cats and dogs. My chocolate Lab Ellie (died 7-30-23) was very easy to train. My cat Dinah that I adopted December, 2023, is training me! Both wonderful companions. I am not alone since my husband Larry died 11-22-20 in Texas.
When Larry and I moved to San Saba in 2006, our dog Lady Magnolia (Maggie) was our companion. When Larry was in Mexico, she was a comfort and help. Maggie died 7-7-10 at the Animal Medical Center in Copperas Cove. Around six months after Maggie, died the SSN&S listed a free chocolate Lab to a good home. Larry called and brought an 'outside' dog into our heart and 'inside' our home and named her Ellie.
In the devotional Word for You Today on September 21st, it started with the question 'What's your reason for not going to church? Before you answer read Ten Reasons Why I Never Wash!' The author compared the why I never go to church and why I never wash. When Larry and I lived in Memphis, Tennessee; Millersburg, Ohio; Gratiot, Ohio; and San Saba, Texas; the first thing we did was to find a church. When I moved to Zanesville, Ohio, I visited six churches to see where God wanted me.
When living in each area, God has given direction, love and peace. Jesus spoke to His disciples at the last meal they shared. Jesus spoke to them: John 15:16&17...NIV...You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My Name. This is My commandment: Love each other.
