The 87th annual San Saba Rodeo held August 15 & 16, had record-breaking crowds to watch and participate in many traditional rodeo events. Professional and local talent competed.
San Saba county and surrounding counties competed in team roping on Wednesday night ,August 13th. Slack for the UPRA-CPRA sanctioned events was on Thursday night. The rodeo on Friday and Saturday night included events such as bareback, ranch and saddle bronc riding; calf, breakaway and team roping; barrel racing and bull riding.
Double muggin’ was a new event added this year and proved to be very entertaining.
Of course, no rodeo is complete without the children’s events of mutton Bustin’ and calf scrambling. We saw great talent in those events.
Spectators were entertained by Legendary Funny Man Leon Coffee, 1st Cavalry Division/ Horse Cavalry Detachment, and Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse who also participated in the rodeo parade on Saturday morning.
The San Saba Rodeo and Livestock association would like thank all the volunteers who helped make this event possible, the numerous sponsors and Johnny Hoyle and the Cadillac Rodeo Company.
