It was hard for her to share about her childhood. Her father was an alcoholic and a violent man. He came home drunk most nights and would beat up his children and wife. They lived in a little shack outside of town, and her clothes were a few worn out hand me down dresses.
One evening, a lady came by from a nearby church and invited her to go to Sunday school with her next Sunday. She began to learn about God and the Bible.
By the age of 13 she realized that Jesus loved her very much and that he died on the cross for her, so she could have her sins forgiven and the hope of a new life (a new relationship to God).
That year, she put her faith in Jesus Christ (she asked him to be her savior and lord).
John 3:15 ... that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they will never
perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
This was a major turning point in her life.
A few years later, she met a young Christian man; they became sweethearts and married. She said for the first time in her life she had a warm house (with love) to live in and enough food to eat.
Many years have passed, but with her faith in Christ, a faithful Christian husband, local church attendance, and the help of Christian friends, she has a happy life.
If you are having problems today (no matter how terrible), remember Jesus is the answer.
See you in Church next Sunday.
