Watching the Inauguration

Last Monday, my wife and I watched a new president being sworn in. We did not watch everything, but watching that got me to thinking about our World leaders.

Some are guerrillas and took a country over by gunfire, military might and bloodshed. This just happened in Syria. Many times they promise many wonderful things, but many times it only turns out to be just the opposite, Cuba and Fidel Castro being an example as are many others.

Some come to power by the countries’ majority votes, and that is what we have. If they are not a good prime minister or president, they can be replaced in the next election.

Royal birth is the final way. They come from royal bloodlines and at birth are destined to be a king. Thinking about Royal Birth reminds me of someone in the Bible.

He was born over 2000 years ago, and many prophecies foretold of Him in the Old Testament.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Micah 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.

Psalm 22:16-18 For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet—I can count all my bones—they stare and gloat over me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.

Isaiah 53:5,7,9 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.

We saw those fulfilled in the New Testament. (See Matthew 27:35, 39,41-43) Jesus came to live a sinless life, was tortured, died and shed His innocent blood on the cross, was buried arose from the grave and now sits at the right hand of God or stands interceding for us.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,...

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

He is the only King of Kings, Lord of Lords.

See you in Church next Sunday.
