Simple Truths

Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

We live in a broken world of hurting people. Suicide is at an all time high. Alcohol and drug abuse have skyrocketed, and record numbers are dying from drug overdose. Crime is out of control. Frustration and hopelessness are permeating society. Schools are the target of deranged lunatics that have somehow fallen through the cracks. Churches and Christians are under attack. Police officers are being gunned down by lawless criminals who have never been held accountable for their actions. Truth is being trampled in the streets. Our justice system is a disgrace. Our unmarried children are having babies by the thousands and murdering millions more with the approval of many. It seems we are fulfilling some of Isaiah 59.

Our nation seems to be divided down the middle, and Jesus said in Matthew 12:25 “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself cannot stand.” I’m convinced that we will not and cannot fix the problems that we are facing in America because most don’t see a problem, or, are complacent to it. Many believe that America is too great to fall and have forgotten the scripture that says in Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

God cannot and will not bless a people who promote and support what he calls an abomination. I believe that the scriptures teach that there is one and only one hope for the restoration of our great country, and that is a return to Biblical Christianity through true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and yes, the admonition of II Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Examination, judgment and repentance must begin with God’s people at God’s house according to 1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

Jesus says of the believer,

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

Christians are to be preservers of righteousness, and are to bring flavor to Christianity, that the non believer will have a good taste of Christ. “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8
