The Richland Springs Report

Seasons greetings from sunny Costa Rica. Christmas by the pool was delicious. That’s the best word I can use to describe lounging under giant coconut trees by a crystal blue pool. Overhead and all around are the sounds of the jungle. Monkeys stroll over the roof and swing from the palms, macaws screech their way across the sky, and toucans scream their defiance from the treetops. This is a sensory overload to handle. I am loving every minute of it.

Today, we drove to a private beach down the road. The surfers were out riding the waves. The sand was dark volcanic sand, hot on the feet, but easy on the eyes. After frolicking in the waves for a while, we headed over to a local restaurant that specializes in fresh fish. I can’t recall eating tastier fish. I don’t know the latest news for the game. The last I heard was that it will be on the 5th. I am excited to get home and watch this epic game. I will be home by the 29th. Shane, Earnie and I are going to the beach again tomorrow. When we get home, we’ll sit by the pool and sip delicious fruit punches from the fruit market. The Costa Rican economy has taken a huge hit with the loss of their tourist industry. They are anxious to serve us, and we are doing our best to visit as many places as possible.

I am looking forward to our local airlines flight back to San Juan. We flew in with Green Airways. We rode in a tiny six seater plane that gave us a bird’s eye view of the countryside. Earnie and Shane were excited to see familiar landmarks. Their first view of the Pacific Ocean brought sighs of pleasure. They love their retirement home.

Even though I am far from home, I’m watching the news and it’s not so wonderful. So please, pray for our President, our out of touch Congress, and our Covid-torn country. Praise God and Trump’s team for the new vaccines that will hopefully bring our businesses relief. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families. Have a Happy New Year. See you all soon.
