There was a splatter of rain in the area, but it wasn’t enough to help farmers and ranchers. It did make the air smell fresher. We are getting a little break from the over 100-degree heat. Between the heat and the lack of rain the land here looks scorched. It’s not our first rodeo with this kind of weather, but it sure makes this beautiful country look sad.
Thank you to Frank Pearch and Paige Moats as well as the many volunteers who helped make the pancake breakfast a success. The purpose was to show off our newly completed corner lot. The project has taken some time, but the new restrooms, tables and cedar post fences, really spiffy up that corner. It will come in handy for the Christmas market this year.
Since the Friday night game cancelled, please be aware that Coach Clutch has picked up a new game with a Christian school, but the game will be on Thursday, not Friday. So, no Friday night football, but I hope to see you there on Thursday. There will be no Fifth Quarter due to the game being held on a school night.
The trailer will have some awesome new material to help you show your team spirit. We have mounds of team spirit here in Richland Springs. Please check the RSISD page for times and locations of our volleyball and football schedules. For those of you who did not see last week’s game, Brice Roesler was defensive Player of the Game and Evan Deeds was Offensive Player of the Game. Congratulations to all on the win against Gustine 16, Richland Springs 57.
The Men’s Fellowship breakfast is this coming Saturday. All men and boys are welcome to attend and share food and thoughts with other men in the community. I hear they cook a mean breakfast. Breakfast starts around 7:00am.
The Graceful Quilters Bible study and quilting group resumed last Tuesday. You don’t have to be a quilter to attend. The book for study this year is “You Can Trust God to Write Your Story”. I can’t wait to see where this book leads us. The ladies are heading to the quilt shop in Brady and then to the Casa Mezcal for a delicious dinner. This is a great group of Christian sisters, and they will welcome you with open arms and beautiful hearts.
Despite the Burn Ban , several fires have damaged property in the area. The language in the law has changed. If you cause a fire, you will be fined. A repeat offense may put you into police custody. This is particularly hard on farmers and ranchers because sometimes a spark from a machine can accidentally cause a fire. Please be careful, our area is very dry.
Please pray for our country, our President and Congress and the wars being fought around the world. Pray for the upcoming elections that all goes well. Most of all pray for peace and our precious soldiers and their families. See you at the game.
Richland Springs First Baptist Welcomes New Pastor
First Baptist Church Richland Springs is pleased to welcome Joe Baucom and his wife Hillary and two sons, Jared and Josh, to our community. Brother Joe has a heart for our young people but also has pastor’s heart for the people in our community that are hurting. The congregation is looking forward to getting to know this family in the months and years ahead. Please feel free to come and visit us any Sunday. Bible Study at 10:00am and service at 11:00 am.
