I arrived back in Texas on an amazingly mild day. I was expecting 100 degrees or more and instead I had a lovely cloudy 80s day. Canada was ramping up to higher temperatures, but I had my two weeks of cool weather. I’m sitting in the air conditioning while outside it is an uncomfortable 91 degrees.
I had an exciting but restful time in Canada. I did get to go fishing on the lake. I could tell I hadn’t used my casting muscles in a while. Who would think you could have sore shoulders from flicking a lure over the water.
My sister Bev and I decorated the wedding tables in the big wedding tent while my sister Dee took care of interior food preparations. The groom and bride had everything planned to the last detail. I had my first taste of moose meat, and it was pretty good. My great-niece Ashley shot a giant moose, so there was plenty of moose meat to share with everyone. Her groom Dawson did most of the cooking. My sisters and I laughed over the DJ’s music choices. They were all from the 60’s and 70’s. We sang with the rest of the crowd. Ashley and Dawson will become parents later this year. That will make me a great-great-aunt. I’m feeling a little old thinking about that fact.
The school supply give out in San Saba was a tremendous success and blessing to those who received, clothing, shoes, backpacks and other supplies. Remember school supplies for RSISD will be supplied by the Howler’s Club and First Baptist. I believe Shiloh has signed up as well. School starts for teachers next week. Local churches and organizations have been asked to donate lunches for the teachers during in-service.
The Men’s Prayer Breakfast is this Saturday in the Tabernacle. All men and boys are welcome to participate. Breakfast will begin at 7:00 AM. Come and join the men in the community for a time of fellowship and thoughtful Bible study.
The Ladies quilting group will resume at the beginning of September. Rhonda Wyatt opened her home for Ladies Bible Study over the summer. The reports I received were very positive. Kay McKee has an exciting new project for the new year and a great book for group study. You don’t have to quilt to attend. Just bring your projects of any kind or just bring yourself and your Bible.
Don’t forget the RSPS Community Potluck this Sunday. The door will be open to drop ou your dish around 9:00 AM.
The doors to the bank building will be open so everyone can see the results of their donations. Come one-come all. We love to see your smiling faces.
We need prayers for Elizabeth Johnson. She is in Houston seeking help for cancer. Daniel Boone is headed out of town for tests to see why he is having is- sues. Bill Ratliu is homebound and not doing well; please pray for his wife and family. There are many others who need prayer for healing. Pray for our school and the upcoming school year. This war with Iran needs to come to a halt, but the issue is complicated. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
It’s good to be home.
