The Richland Springs Report

We are enjoying wonderful weather right now. To think, I could be in Canada and wearing a warm jacket instead of short sleeves and shorts. My grandniece went hunting last week for a moose calf. Ashley is about five foot and maybe a hundred pounds, but her granddaddy will tell you she is one tough little lady and the best shot around. So, her husband was filming her hunting the bull calf, but she blocked his view for a moment. She felled her moose with one shot.

From behind her, he said “ did you get it,” to which she replied yes. Then he wanted to know if it was smaller, to which she said no. It turns out a big bull moose stepped out, and he was the better shot.

So, they had to haul over a thousand pounds out of the bush. They have plenty of meat for the winter.

Varsity boys forty-fived Lometa Friday night. Next week is the homecoming game against Brookesmith. It’s that wonderful crazy week of dress-up and strange costumes. This Tuesday, you are supposed to be a famous person or a meme. I have no idea how to dress as a meme. My age is showing.

Cross country competed last week, and Reese Eckert took second place at the junior high meet. I watched two volleyball games versus Brookesmith. Junior high serving stars were Reese Eckert, Ayleen Aviles, and Cecilia Tavera. The lady Coyotes had a quick three game win against their varsity opponents. We’re proud of our girls program.

The VFD fish fry was well attended on Saturday. I’m on a liquid diet only until Monday afternoon, so all I could do was sniff the air. I fully intend to eat Chicken Express on my way ho me from Marble Falls. As usual, some of our best cooks donated their home goodies to auction. I know they will bring a great price for our fire department. Thank you to all who participated.

We’re saddened to report Deloris Smith went to be with the Lord. We are praying for Laura Garcia’s granddaughter who is taking chemo treatments. We are also praying for Shirley Harlow’s grandson Jarrett, who was in a serious electrical accident.

We are saddened to hear that Larry Crump passed away; please pray for Dee and the family.

Please pray for the peace in Israel. Hamas usually pulls out at the last moments. They seem to be willing to participate in a peace process, but I’m not confident that they will pull out at the last minute. We need peace in Ukraine and other hot spots around the world. We need our government to re-open and look after our troops and the people who need government assistance. Have a blessed week, but most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
