The Richland Springs Report

I want to start by thanking all the happy guests that came to eat at the Community Center this Sunday. We were short a few guests due to a conflict in schedules. For a little community, we are busy. I must admit it makes my heart feel good to see and listen to the happy conversations in the hall. If you haven’t come by, please stop next time and be a part of the meet and greet. Thank you to all who brought delicious dishes. You get great food, and we appreciate the financial support that helps the progress on the bank building. Special thank you's to Paige Moats, who arrives early and leaves when all is done, and to Christian McKinnerney and Dalton Moats for their assistance with set up and tear down.

Our girls won a decisive victory in their softball game against Menard on Friday. Our relay teams for the boys are all advancing. Their successes captured the district trophy for Richland. Good luck, gentlemen, in the next step in your journey towards state.

Springs sports will wrap up shortly. STAAR is next week and will continue until the end of the month. Spring pictures, class group pictures and all spring sports will be taken this Wednesday. Picture packs will go out the following Tuesday. This will bring us to May and all the activities that wrap up the year. It has been a year of changes, but they are positive, and our school is getting stronger and better.

School board elections will be held in early May. I spoke with Jason Lewis this morning at the luncheon. He is coming out of retirement to be a part of building up our grand old little school.

If you are a certified teacher looking for a position in a unique country school, please check the jobs listing on the school web site.

We have two more weeks of Wednesday Kids’ Church before we take the summer off. It seems a little early, but school activities become so busy that it’s better to pause the program. Mrs. Perry is making plans for some summer activities. They will be posted later in the month.

Please pray for Jack Carroll, Johnny Reeves and multiple other community members who are struggling with health issues. The Powell family had a lovely memorial service for Peggy Jean Powell on Saturday afternoon. The Singing Ladies of West Texas honored her memory with their beautiful voices. It was a thrill for me to have a full choir behind me as we sang.

Please continue to pray for rain, for our troubled country, and for a return to common sense and civility in all areas of our daily lives. Cherish your children and train them up in the way they should go. Have a blessed week.
