Much to my delight, the weathermen were right, and it was warm on Sunday. I was able to cut fabric in my sewing house. I may be able to finish this quilt by next Friday if I’m diligent. I checked my baby plants. The beans did well, but the flower seeds will have to be replanted. My asparagus froze back a little, but I think they will be fine now that it has warmed up.
They announced this morning that the little basketball players did well on finals. The first and second graders took first place, while the third and fourth took third and the fifth and sixth graders were second in their division. We like to train our littles up and give them a good foundation for school sports. Congratulations to all concerned.
We had two outstanding entries at the San Antonio Ag Mechanic Show. Kinzley Daly won first place for her gate, and Gage Behrens took second place for his rock sorting machine. Both students will move on with their winning entries. I’m told Gage was offered over $50,000 for his machine, but it was designed to be used for his family business. Kinzley’s gate was a true work of art.
My great-grandson, Luke, is a member of the Copperas Cove band and sings in the choir. I was proud to visit him and watch him perform. I’m pleased to see that musical gene pass to my grandchildren and now a greatgrandchild.
The quilting ladies are heading to Mason again next Monday. This will be the final trip. None of us needs more material, but any extra will go into the quilting store downtown. Once it is organized and opened, residents can learn how to sew, get some free material, and some of the ladies will put their quilts up for sale.
The hope for this shop will be to interest our younger generation to become interested in the art of sewing. Of course, any trip to Mason involves going out to eat.
Please pray for rain, for our country, our President, and the new Congress. I feel as if every time I turn around, someone else know has been diagnosed with cancer. This is Breast Cancer month, but cancer of any kind is horrible. My baby sister just had surgery to remove her cancer. Johnny Reeves is still fighting his cancer. My son-in-law also has cancer. So much suffering and pain.
Please pray for our sick. Have a wonderful week.
