Amazingly, we have all weathered our lovely frozen February.
Thankfully, it was not as bad as last year. Ercot was prepared, and most Texans were able to have power throughout the four days of sub-freezing temperatures. I obeyed the announcers and stayed closely attached to my wood stove. I am ready for warmer weather.
School closed Thursday and Friday. Fortunately, the roads thawed enough to allow for basketball games on Saturday. The kids played well, and both teams are on a solid winning streak. Another month and we will begin track and tennis. We keep our students busy.
I missed the townhall meeting with Jody Fauley held at the Stagecoach Restaurant. I think both candidates for Judge are good men, but I need to do more research before I have to vote. I was interested to read about the sub-dividing that was mentioned at the Commissioner’s Court. Our country seat is growing. Richland Springs even has Airbnb cottages for rent. That might be helpful when we start to hire new teachers next year.
I am saddened that the Olympics have become so controversial. Our athletes have trained diligently for years, and now controversy is overshadowing them. If this trend continues, there will be no more Olympics.
I try to have reasonable conversations with my sisters about shots and masks, but they just continue to take shots and wear masks. I pointed out that many people with shots and boosters are still getting covid. I am proud of the Canadian truckers who are drawing a line in the sand to protect their right to earn a living. The rhetoric is intensive from the government of Canada.
So many ill at this time. Please keep Alan Taylor and family as well as Gary Massey in your prayers.
Mondo Garcia and his family are mourning the loss of their mother.
Covid cases are up. The majority are not life threatening, but those with pre-existing conditions are at risk. Please continue to be careful if you have health issues.
The Mann family and the Lusty family have both welcomed handsome new grandbabies. Congratulations to the families concerned.
Once again, we are facing aggression from foreign dictators. Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are all flexing their military muscles.
Please pray for our government, our military, and our leaders, especially our President. Our police officers continue to be the target of senseless acts of violence. We back the blue and pray for their protection. Praise God for the moisture we received. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
