Dear Editor,
As a parent of a SSISD middle school student, I have a direct interest in ensuring that my son has the best opportunities/facilities to make him successful in future. Knowing that participation in extracurricular activities is tied to better student outcomes, I support any improvements that provides additional access to band, sports, dance/cheer, etc. I also understand that many county taxpayers don’t have kids in school and thus may be less interested in a bond election proposing a new band hall and multi-purpose activity facility. This is where it is important to remember that those who came before us voted to build the schools/ facilities we attended. In many cases, the votes to build/improve our schools were cast by individuals with no stake in the school system, other than a desire to educate the next generation to be good citizens and leaders. Please consider the future of our community, county, state and nation when voting in the May 7th bond election.
