Why hello there, sweet San Saba loves; so wonderful to be speaking to you! If I am being honest, it is wonderful to be speaking at all as mom told me she half way considered sewing my dachshund mouth shut this past week! I just smiled at her and reminded her she told me she made a D in Homemaking and would likely sew her own fingers together! To her credit, I have been a royal pain in the neck, back, and well, pretty much a great big dachshund headache!
It is no secret I enjoy food. What you might not know about me is I neither take the time to taste or even chew the food I am given! I am literally a dachshund vacuum cleaner! It goes into my mouth, I inhale, it is gone and I pounce on mom asking for more! Mom tells me if I took the time to savor the taste, chewed, I would actually enjoy eating more! I looked at her, pushed my empty plate toward her and replied… “yes, perhaps, but would this thing get filled as often? I think not!!”
I think mom has turned completely British now! The only shows she watches are English, and one day I know I will walk in the house from the porch to find her walking through the house using only left lanes! The woman already drinks so much tea it is ridiculous! She has always had the accent down as if she grew up there because she grew up listening to it. She can shift from Texan to British in a split second, and it makes me laugh! It is like she should have two heads!
This crazy Texas weather, I tell ya! I never know whether to stay under the blankets or flag down mom to put some ice in a tub for me to watch steam form. It was so cool the other day, I was shivering out on the front porch, and mom went inside to retrieve a sweater for me. I tell you what, her trying to put that sweater on me was as close to her wrestling a bear as she will ever get! I didn’t mind it going over my head, but when it came time to put my legs in…I became a prize-fighting dachshund!! I really became irritated that humans have so many fingers and are so much larger than me! All that being said, I really hated that I stopped shivering!!
We have lots of dogs in our neighborhood and therefore lots of communication going on all times of day and night. When mom is out on the porch with me and I join in with the other dogs barking, mom says to me… “Lenny, you do not even know why you are barking.” Um, yes I do! I am communicating with the other dogs! “Mom, you do not speak bark; it is not the same as gibberish!”
We sure hope each of have the most amazing week! We also hope you find joy in the beauty that surrounds you and know it can be found in even the most ordinary looking things and moments. The truth is, it is we who make our lives beautiful, special, rewarding and extraordinary! Love, Lenny
