When I first saw him he wasn’t much to look at as a matter of fact he was kind of ugly. Something had happened to both of his ears. They were almost gone. He was also very thin compared to the rest of the lambs and I wasn’t sure just why, maybe he had some kind of disease or something. And to top it off he had been orphaned. Somehow, he got out of the small special pen I had him in and got in with the big ewes and they ran over him and broke one of his back legs. I went over and picked him up and thought to myself, you know he would probably be better off if I just disposed of him and ended his misery. I didn’t have the heart to do that, so I took him back to the house and my wife set his leg and put a cast on it and then we started giving him some milk.
Seeing that little lamb reminded me of the way God must see us sometimes. I am glad God is a merciful, loving and compassionate God, (Romans 9:15 &16) and doesn’t just write us off, (Ephesians 2:1-9). He will try and nourish us back to good health and heal our sicknesses, (Matthew 4:23). Have you asked the merciful God for help, (Acts 28:27&28)? But He also can forgive our sins, (Romans 10:9-13).
See you in Church next Sunday.
