If Life Is a Rat Race…Where Is the Pied Piper?

Hello, my sweet San Saba friends, and how have you been this past week? I would guess you were as disappointed as the parentals we did not see a drop of rain from Hurricane Hanna, and pleased lives were spared. My parentals pretty much live in San Saba because of hurricanes as they grew tired of having to deal with the threat of them living on the Gulf Coast. Yeah, they are all the old wind bags needed for all lifetime, and that is for sure!

Speaking of the hurricane, I am not a political dachshund. However, I read a statement about how Governor Abbott was planning to house people in hotels if necessary for social distancing so COVID-19 would not be a catastrophically…um, isn’t that him trying to put a lid on a jar he already broke months ago? Was he not the one who told everyone to go play together, and now we are seeing COVID-19 take over the state?

I discovered egg noodles last week, and oh my goodness, I do believe I am in love again! Mom made this broccoli and egg noodle stuff, and I want to eat it for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. I find myself just lying in the living room floor, looking towards the kitchen at the refrigerator, trying to will the fridge door to open and the container of noodles to fall out on to the floor! I know, I know, I am impossible, a glutton and out of control, but I don’t care… that stuff is delicious!

Question, why is it when someone is asked to do something they sometimes answer… “No way, Jose!” They might be speaking to Henry, Joseph or even Mary, but nope, they for some reason become Jose when things get negative… makes no sense at all! It is so rude not to remember the name of the person you are speaking to…such a slap in the face and truth be known…by saying the wrong name, you didn’t tell them no, but a person who didn’t ask you anything!

Talking about names reminds me of dad saying how because he has five children, when he would call one, he often call them by the wrong name, and finally say… “You know who you are!” I guess when you have five kids, it can get confusing. We have no such problem in this house as it is just me and Little, a cat and a dachshund. Dad does have lots of nicknames for me, some I can’t even say in a newspaper or out loud for that matter, but all are meant with love and affection.

Texas had a busy week what with Hurricane Hanna and this second phase of COVID-19. Life seems to be moving at such a crazy pace lately, and we have to believe somewhere out there is a pied piper capable of taming this rat race. Our present cannot become our normal or our future. In the meantime, sweet friends, please take very good care of yourself. Be kind, loving and considerate to yourself and others. Until we speak again… thank you for being!
