Tuesday, January 5th, U.S. Representative August Pfluger (TX-11) joined State Representative Brooks Landgraf (R-Odessa), State Representative Andrew Murr (R-Kerrville), Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis, and Kevin Sparks in Del Rio for an update on federal border security efforts and Operation Lone Star, which directs State resources and Texas law enforcement officers to the border to combat the smuggling of people and drugs into Texas.
“The Biden Administration has abandoned Texans, and the border crisis is even worse than anyone can imagine,” said Congressman August Pfluger. “Thankfully, Texas is stepping up when President Biden and ‘Border Czar’ VP Harris refuse to step foot at the border. On this visit, we learned that the Del Rio sector saw more illegal migrant crossings in 2021 than in the past nine years combined. Without Texas’ border security resources, DPS officers, and law enforcement personnel—the chaos we are seeing along the border would be even worse. I applaud the efforts of the Texas Legislature—including Representative Landgraf, Representative Murr, Speaker Craddick, and others—as well as Ector County Sheriff Griffis and all of our law enforcement heroes in this district who are pitching in and working tirelessly to secure our border. It is past time for Democrats in Congress and the White House to quit playing politics with our safety. I will continue to put forward common-sense border solutions to protect the security of communities across TX-11 and the nation.”

Pfluger: Democrats are trying to distract from crises with voting rights bill

"M. Speaker, I’m glad that it was brought up tonight, those who have served and been willing to give their lives for this country.
You know, if we are going to talk about numbers, let’s talk about the numbers in 2020. More people voted in 2020 than ever in the history of this country before—and yet we are talking about suppression.
Under Democrat leadership, our country is breaking records.
Record-high inflation, recordhigh illegal border crossings, historic levels of drug and human trafficking across the border, skyrocketing energy prices, surging crime rates, and countless empty shelves in grocery stores across the country.
Americans are watching the value of their paycheck literally shrink before their eyes in realtime as inflation spikes to the highest levels that we’ve seen in forty years.
The border is an absolute disaster. I was there last week. Illegal border crossings are again, the highest ever, with close to 2 million illegal apprehensions under President Biden’s watch.
Fentanyl has crossed our southern border at levels we have never seen before, and it’s the leading killer of young adults in this country—ending 100,000 lives in 2021 alone.
Instead of bolstering American energy security, this White House is spending their time lobbying FOR a Russian pipeline that will most certainly be used as a weapon against our allies in Eastern Europe.
The policies of this administration and a Democrat Congress have led us into a record-breaking season of crises—but instead of working to fix these issues, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are attempting to distract the American people. Do we really think that Americans aren’t paying attention?
And tonight, Democrats are twisting the rules to pass a bill to nationalize our election system—allowing for hard-earned taxpayer dollars to finance political campaigns, handing control of congressional district boundaries to the “powers that be” in Washington, requiring states to allow felons to vote, and overriding wildly popular voter ID laws.
And to reference the President’s disappointing speech yesterday in Georgia … Supporting voter ID or opposing this Washington power grab does not make you George Wallace or Jefferson Davis. That is nonsense.
Americans deserve a President and government that will lead us out of crises, not create them."
Pfluger Exposes Biden Administration’s Failure to Provide COVID-19 Therapeutics
Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) and Congressman Dan Crenshaw (TX-2) led over 50 of their Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Biden Administration officials decrying the lack of COVID-19 therapeutic availability, including monoclonal antibody treatments.
“Rather than following the successful model that the Trump Administration laid out under Operation Warp Speed and utilizing ASPR authorities, the Administration focused their efforts solely on constantly changing masking requirements and vaccine education campaigns,” the Members wrote. “As a result, we are suffering from an embarrassingly low supply of effective therapies because of the Administration’s poor judgement and planning since February 2021.”

Pfluger introduces bill to force DHS to publish number of Known and Suspected Terrorists trying to enter the U.S.
Friday, January 21st, Congressman August Pfluger, the Lead Republican on the Homeland Security Intelligence and Counterterrorism Subcommittee introduced legislation to require the Department of Homeland Security to publish the number of known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) and individuals who are included in the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) attempting to enter the U.S. on a monthly basis.
Representative Pfluger: “Stopping terrorists from entering our country should not be a partisan issue. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration has refused to release the number of potential terrorists who have been apprehended coming into this country by land, sea, or sky. My bill will restore transparency and accountability. Americans deserve to feel safe and secure within our borders.”
In March of 2021, Representative Pfluger was part of the congressional delegation to El Paso, Texas who uncovered that potential terrorists were being apprehended crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
Since that time, DHS has refused to disclose the number of these potential terrorists to the public, despite repeated requests from Representative Pfluger and his Republican colleagues on the Homeland Security Committee.
Rep. Pfluger’s bill will codify in law that the Secretary must report on a publicly-available webpage no later than the 15th of each month the number of potential terrorists apprehended, the geographic regions where the encounters occurred, and how they were encountered (by land, air, or sea).
