Commissioners discuss projects, contracts

The San Saba County Commissioners Court examined building projects, contracts and training during December meetings.

The Commissioners met on December 22 and delivered the following unanimous decisions (minus the absent Greg McGregor): - Open/examine bids for the Rylander Memorial Library roof project (Approval was postponed to the next meeting in January) - Approval of cybersecurity training for all county employees on email accounts - Approval of conservation contract with Jeffry Dozier in precinct 1 - Approval of $14,280 surplus material allotment from TxDOT for 2026 designated for precinct 1 - Acceptance of a $100 donation from Goldsmith Solutions -Put the burn ban in place In the Dec. 8 meeting, Commissioners unanimously approved (minus the absent James Lebow and Kenley Kroll) a hydrologic and hydraulic study proposal for the 2024 FEMA project (DR 47881). Based on the study, engineers will provide a detailed scope of work proposal, cost estimate, and justification for the recommended method of repair. This agreement does not include any plans and/or specifications for final construction. Those services will be provided with separate agreements.

Commissioners present also unanimously approved revising the subdivision regulations, incorporating a requirement to comply with the requirements of the San Saba Soil and Water Conservation District.

Greg McGregor advised that Sam Uli had listed the S&W Diesel Automotive Repair building for sale, emphasizing that purchasing that building would be more economical than constructing a new facility on recently acquired property near the state prison. No action was taken.
