Cherokee Chatter

Summer at Cherokee Home for children is filled with special opportunities to enjoy fun, fellowship, and unforgettable experiences.

Thanks to generous supporters each family receives a small budget to plan adventures that fit their schedules and interests. These outings provide valuable opportunities for our kids and house parents to spend quality time together while creating lasting memories. One of our girls’ cottages enjoyed an exciting day at SeaWorld San Antonio last week. For some it was a memorable experience of riding a roller coaster for the very first time.

Meanwhile, Cottage 1 boys spent the day on the water at Lake Athens in Marble Falls. They were selected to participate in Skiin' with the Galilean, a special organization that provides a full day of water recreation and fun for children in foster care. The boys had the opportunity to water ski, enjoy the lake, and experience an unforgettable day of adventure and encouragement.

On Sunday afternoon the entire Cherokee Home campus, joined by members of our Board of Directors and their wives, gathered for a Family Picnic. We all enjoyed several hours of fellowship and friendly competition with activities including volleyball, cornhole, and time on the splash pad. A picnic meal of sandwiches and chips topped off the day.

As summer continues, we are grateful for the opportunities these activities provide for our children and families to build relationships, make memories, and enjoy the blessings of being a part of the Cherokee Home family!
