Anne's Musings

I so enjoy my chickens. Their organic eggs are delicious and plentiful. Even so, there are downsides to raising chickens. (One) They love to come into my yard and eat so many of my plants! The sweet potato vine, which is so pretty and green and covers large areas of flower beds and pots, is a delicacy to them and they consume it with gusto! (Two) They are “Super Poopers”! With the eggs, you get the attendant chicken stuff! Oh, well, still worth it! Just let it dry and blow it away!

Here's interesting new data from Washington, new arrests, and new arraignments: Billionaire and former 2016 Inaugural Committee Chair, Tom Barrack, was arrested for being a foreign agent/lobbyist for the United Arab Emirates! The judge set a 250 million dollar bond for Barrack!

Also on an interesting note – Pardoned for their original legal charges are: Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Steve Bannon, General Mike Flynn, Roger Stone, George Papadopoulos, and Elliot Broidy, who were all involved in the 2016 Inaugural brouhaha. Some of these pardoned were also found to represent foreign governments. All told, 144 felons were pardoned.

Others indicted, some arrested, and some sentenced also included Michael Cohen, attorney for the former president; Allen Weisselberg, Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization; and Wilbur Ross, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, accused of lying to Congress regarding the last Census! Combine that with the recently released notes from Acting Attorney General, Jefferey Rosen, and his Assistant Attorney General, Richard Donoghue, regarding Trump's attempts to overturn the election! Wow!

Again, I cite the wisdom of my wonderful father when I repeat his old trite truism – “You are known by the company you keep!” What I do not understand is the inability of some Trump supporters to see that truth! Fox News, News Max, et.al., must keep them in the dark!

I have very good friends whom I value and love and who still are staunch Trump supporters! I just cannot fathom how this is possible. Maybe someone can explain it to me. No antipathy allowed however! As a strong believer in individuals’ rights under the Constitution, especially the First Amendment right – “abridging the freedom of speech,” I value their and your opinions but I expect in return the mutual respect of mine. . . said with much love for all of us and our American Democracy and guaranteed freedoms! Aren’t we lucky in spite of all this?!?

Am getting a little pedantic here so will look for something joyful to talk about! Thank you, God, for the incredible rains we have had in Texas recently. Only wish some would fall on the West Coast and the sadly drought-stricken Northwest. Last fall, when my sister and I crossed over Lake Mead in Utah and Arizona, it was so disheartening to see that huge lake so horribly low!

Remembering that the West feeds much of the United States and the world, we need to add to our prayers the breadbasket of the Central California Valley and its farm workers, documented and undocumented, who feed us daily.

And peace be unto you until next week!
