On Friday, January 17th, I called Winfield Basham to tell him Happy Birthday. He was not available so I left a singing message. He called me back on Saturday evening and explained it was the weekend of the Hunting with Soldiers that my husband Larry (1940-2020) helped him organize. It was good hunting this year with more deer harvested than last year. I will look forward to the report in the SSN&S by my Smithster.
The area where I live in Zanesville, Ohio, has 19 buildings with four or five condos in each one. There is a wooded area next to my condo so deer come and fascinate my companion cat Dinah. At this moment, she is watching a squirrel eat the seeds I put out for the birds on the ground four feet from the porch. Dinah would like to be on the porch, but the temperature is 9 degrees with high of 13 degrees so we are staying inside.
This evening I will walk across the street for a Condo Board meeting at 6 p.m. and then back home for the Ohio State University football game. Go-Play-Win!
One of my devotionals stated the difference of 'to hear' or 'to listen.' Hearing takes no effort on our part, but listening takes thoughtful attention.
Psalm 17:6-7...NLT...David writes: I am praying to You because I know You will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me Your unfailing love in wonderful ways...So be it for everyone.
