The leaves on the trees in the wooded area next to my condo where I live in Zanesville, Ohio, are gone. They are preparing for winter, and so am I. My 'summer clothes' have been put away and the 'winter clothes' ready to be out and about. Thanksgiving Day is next week, and many are planning what and where they will eat that day. I remember a Thanksgiving years ago when I lived in San Saba, I prepared a meal and took it to Mexico. My husband Larry (1940-2020) was teaching at the bible training school that was from August through November in San Fernando. The students were amazed and enjoyed an American meal, especially the pumpkin pie.
I am also remembering Thanksgiving meals at Brice and Margie Wagner's there on the road to Bend, Texas. This family embraced us and showed 'us Yankees' great love and hospitality.
Sunday, November 17th, was the anniversary date of my marriage to Larry. Weeks before Sunday, I had tearful memories and actually dreaded that day. However, when I went to church that day and told people about it, I was hugged with love and sympathy. I ate lunch with a dear widow friend, and later my daughter Jenny took me to a movie. It was a 'giving thanks' day along with precious memories.
I Thessalonians 5:16,17,18... NIV...Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
