Last week, I moved furniture back and forth to clean. I moved my chocolate Labrador Ellie's eating dish from my dining area. When I moved everything back the next day, she would not eat in the morning or evening after dinner. We went on our after dinner walk. And then I led her to the food with the leash on, and she ate.
I know how Ellie feels because when we moved from San Saba, Texas, to Zanesville, Ohio, I did not want to eat. I would have stayed in bed all day except I had to get up to feed and take care of Ellie. Nothing was in the same place. After my husband Larry died November 22, 2020, in Texas, our lives have changed.
Margie Wagner gave me a wall plaque that reads: 'The treasures of my life are not porcelain or lace, but rather friends whose hearts are always in the right place.'
My cell phone rang, and I was jolted from the past to the present. Katha Mercer called me to remind me of a concert we are going to tomorrow evening in New Concord. Oh yes, I have adjusted to the changes in my life. What has helped is writing this column and depending on God's grace and guidance.
This afternoon, I will go to an Annual Client Meeting sponsored by my lawyer. It gives me peace to have my finances and earthly belongings stated in a will. Larry and I did not have up to date wills when he died, so it could have been disastrous. However, I had a great lawyer in San Saba that took care of everything and was very helpful.
Matthew 5:3-12 are The Beatitudes where 'Jesus opened His mouth and taught multitudes how to be blessed'. Be blessed as you open your Bibles and learn.
