A Word from Wayne

It’s a great day to be a DILLO! Halloween is over, but there are still some scary things out there. The aftermath of the upcoming election may hold some surprises no matter who you voted for or who wins. Our third 6-weeks grading period started on Tuesday, and everybody is back face to face. I find it interesting that for Halloween, one of the things kids love to do is put on masks. Great news. Kids of all ages can wear masks all the time at school now. COVID-19 is still a little scary and has had a resurgence of cases in San Saba County and in neighboring counties as well. Masks are the single best thing we can do to protect our kids and keep the school doors open. Whatever you believe about the medical effectiveness of masks is irrelevant because it is the TEA guidelines that define our close contact tracing, and who must quarantine, and who does not. So, help us out, and mask up.

Football is still going strong, and Friday will determine if the Armadillos will be district champs for the third year in a row. As regular season play comes to an end and playoffs begin, basketball is already upon us. Season tickets are on sale for high school and junior high. There are only 250 seats available in Armadillo Arena for home fans. A High School season pass is $50, and a Junior High season pass is $30. Away game tickets will be available at the central office but must be paid for at the away game gym. Be prepared because we have already been told that many of our away game venues may only have 20 available seats. Our protocol for away games will be the same as football with player families having priority for away tickets. Masks will be required at all games, so don’t leave home without ‘em.

I want to encourage you to encourage our SSISD staff. They are all working harder than ever to keep our kids educated, our buildings clean and expectations high. GO DILLOS!
