On Saturday, February 22nd, 14 schools from Region 15 participated in the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) held in San Angelo. A total of 312 artworks were submitted, showcasing the art of students across the region.
San Saba High School entered 64 pieces of artwork in the competition. Of these, 45 earned a Regional gold medal.
Two students from San Saba, Enrique Mendoza and Maria Barrientos, earned gold medals at the Regional level and in the Area contest. Their art will move on to the state VASE meet, which will be held in San Marcos on April 26th.
The mission of the TAEA Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve.
During the 2025 High School VASE season, 32,518 works were adjudicated statewide at the regional level, with only 1,542 qualifying for State VASE.
