In celebration of the 100th Day of School, fourth graders at San Saba Elementary transformed into savvy small business owners — armed with just $100 and their math skills!
As part of a hands-on financial literacy challenge aligned to the Texas Education Agency financial literacy standards, students worked in teams to launch one of four business options: jewelry making, cookie sales, lawn mowing, or pet sitting. Each group had to carefully budget their startup money, calculate expenses, determine total revenue, and figure out their final profit.
But the math didn’t stop there!
After crunching the numbers, students designed colorful posters to advertise their businesses and clearly show their mathematical thinking. From supply costs to service pricing, every dollar was accounted for.
Who knew 100 days of learning could turn into $100 of entrepreneurial excitement? One thing is certain: these fourth graders are well on their way to becoming the next generation of business leaders in our beautiful county, and beyond!
