San Saba Tennis Report

The San Saba JV Tennis Team played in the Gatesville JV Tournament on Tuesday, February 14. Playing in the JV Tournament were Sandra Vasquez, Judy Aguado, Jessica Nguyen, Esperanza Baez, Karen Ortega, and Sophia Cuevas.

Karen Ortega and Sophia Cuevas won their first three matches to get to the girls doubles finals. They played a close match against Brownwood but were defeated 6-4, 6- 4 to take second place. Teams playing in the tournament were Gatesville, Mexia, Brownwood, Burnet, San Saba, Killeen, Harker Heights, Waco High, and Jarrell.

The San Saba Varsity Team played in the Llano Varsity Tennis Tournament on Wednesday, February 15. Playing for San Saba were Damaris Patino, Minerva Vasquez, Natalie Cuevas, Keely Pham, Delaney Ellis, Jose Aguilera, Trace Temples, Christian Morales, Everett Eidson, Jose Rangel, and Jose Rojas. Jose Aguilera won 3rd place in boys singles. Trace Temples came in 4th place in boys singles. Christian Morales and Everett Eidson won 3rd place in boys doubles. Damaris Patino and Minerva Vasquez won 3rd place in girls doubles. Jose Rojas and Jovani Rangel won consolation in boys doubles. Teams playing in the tournament were San Saba, Poteet, Llano, Comfort, Faith Academy, Johnson City, Bangs, Burnet, and Mason.

The San Saba Tennis team will be hosting a JV Tournament on Thursday, February 23, and a Varsity Tournament on Friday, February 24. We will have 11 teams playing in the tournament. We would like to see as many people as possible come out and support the Dillos Tennis Team. Play will start at 8:00 a.m. both days and last to around 7:00 p.m.
