San Saba Middle School Invitational Tennis Tournament
The San Saba Middle School Invitational Tennis Tournament was held on Saturday, April 30. Teams playing in the tournament were Brownwood, Llano, Copperas Cove Middle School, Copperas Cove Lee Middle School, San Saba, Richland Springs, Lohn, and Lometa. There were 117 players playing in the tournament. Playing in the tournament for San Saba were the following eighth graders: Libby Mays, Mary Jane Cantu, Abigail Gonzales, Christian Reyes, Ryan Roberts and Trace Temples. Playing for the 7th Grade team were: Marlane Rodriguez, Emerson Gage, Karen Correa, Jaritzel Aguirre, Holley English, Perla Gil-Vega, Mia Davila, Mariana Macedo, Adriana Macedo, Daisy Macias, Ximena Cuevas, Brenda Aguirre, Ana Rangel, Rodolfo Valdez, Angel Reyes, Sophia Cuevas, and Judy Aguado.
Marlane Rodriguez won first place in 7th Grade Girls Singles. Karen Correa won Consolation in 7th Grade Girls Singles. In 7th Grade Boys Singles, Rodolfo Valdez was a consolation finalist. In 7th Grade Doubles, Holly English and Perla Gil-Vega won second place. Daisy Macias and Ximena Cuevas came in 4th place. In 8th Grade Girls Doubles, Abigail Gonzales was a Consolation Semifinalist. In 8th Grade Mixed Doubles, Libby Mays and Trace Temples won second place. Mary Jane Cantu and Christian Reyes came in 4th Place. Richland Springs Lane Ward won second place in 7th Grade Boys Singles.
The San Saba Tennis Team will next play in the 29-AA District Middle School Tournament in Mason on Tuesday, May 3rd.
